Another game, another controversial goal, another unhappy tweet
Leeds United posted a ‘confused’ tweet on their official Twitter account after West Ham took the lead in their FA Cup third round tie.
Both teams fielded strong teams for the tie at the London Stadium, with Michail Antonio – who recently signed a new deal at West Ham – leading the line for the home side and Daniel James operating from the wing for Marcelo Bielsa’s men.
It was David Moyes’ side who opened the scoring in the fixture, but it wasn’t without controversy – which was addressed by Leeds in a not-so-subtle social media post.
Manuel Lanzini made the most of a goal-mouth scramble to put the Hammers in front, however, there were some suggestions that Jarrod Bowen – who was indirectly involved with the goal as he attempted to retrieve the rebound – was in an offside possession during the initial attack.
However, after a brief VAR check, the goal was given – much to the delight of the home side, and anger of the visitors.
Posting a video of the goal on their Twitter account, Leeds opted for a simple caption as they went with a confused emoji and ‘unsure’ emoji.

It wasn’t just Leeds’ official account that voiced its opinions on the controversial opener, with club captain Liam Cooper also taking to Twitter to react to the goal.
However, his response was far less diplomatic, writing: “Shambles” alongside two angry emojis.

The Scotsman is currently out injured, but is expected to return to first-team action in the upcoming weeks.
Andrea Radrizzani – majority owner of Leeds – also made his feelings about the goal known, by replying to Leeds’ initial tweet saying: “Very clear to everyone”.

It is not the first time that a club has reacted angrily to a controversial decision, with Spanish outfit Valencia CF facing the prospect of a fine following a tweet sent from the club’s official account during their defeat to Real Madrid on Saturday night.
Madrid took the lead courtesy of a Karim Benzema penalty just before half-time, after Casemiro was judged to have been fouled in the box by Omar Alderete, though many – including Valencia’s social media manager – thought the decision was soft.
Valencia’s social media manager couldn’t hid their distain for the officiating in the game, posting a tweet at 1-0 which said: ‘The robberies in Madrid are starting to become more repetitive,’ also tagging popular show Money Heist, or ‘Casa de Papel’ as it is known in the Spanish speaking world.
