This signing would be quite the coup for the Yorkshire side
Leeds United are reportedly close to completing the signing of Valencia’s Spanish international striker Rodrigo Moreno, according to Spanish media.
GolsMedia are reporting that negotiations for the 29-year-old, who was told that he was no longer wanted by the club earlier this summer, are progressing at pace, with majority Leeds shareholder Andrea Radrizzani, and sporting director, VÃctor Orta, currently in the Spanish city thrashing out the deal.
The Brazilian-born Spain international was one of a number of first team regulars told by Valencia that they would be sold this summer due to the club’s need to raise funds.
Captain Dani Parejo left for free to move 50 miles north to Villarreal, as did Francis Coquelin for a fee of around €8m. Ferran Torres joined Manchester City for just £21m, 80 million less than his release clause.
The club still need to offload several more first team players if they are to reduce their growing debt of €274 million, and Rodrigo is expected to be the next to leave.
Spanish media report that Rodrigo has not been contacted by the club or involved in their pre-season training, which is currently taking place.
Valencia are expected to demand significantly less for the forward than they have in previous seasons – when they set evaluations of between €60 and €80 million.
It’s understood that the deal will be worth around €35 million plus add-ons.
