Say what you want about football fans, but they are solid gold when it counts.
Never was this more evident than when non-league Woking striker Scott Rendell was carried off with a serious knee injury in the first game of the season.
Rendell ruptured his cruciate ligament in the 1-0 defeat to Tranmere Rovers, leaving him facing a long injury lay-off.
But fans and former players clubbed together to raise an incredible £8,000 through a crowdfunding campaign to help his recovery.

Their target is £10,000 to support the man who finished as top scorer for the Vanarama National League club last season.
Club director and chaplain Ian Nicholson told the Guardian: “Within 40 minutes of the first game of this season Scott was stretchered off with ruptured ligaments.
“He needs an immediate operation and will be out for a year. We want to cover the operation, rehab and his wages for the year to enable Scott to fully recover.
“The response through Facebook and Twitter has been fantastic. This is lower league football at its best!”
