It’s almost as if Claudio Ranieri was never there at all.
It’s official. Claudio Ranieri has been sacked by Leicester City.
Less than a year after he lead them to the club’s greatest ever achievement, the Premier League title, the Italian manager was shown the door.
Poor league form sounded the death knell on his spell with the Foxes as they have failed to score a single goal in the English top flight in 2017. His last ever act at the helm of the club was seeing them earn a credible 2-1 away loss to Sevilla in the Champions League last 16.
Leicester will have to find a replacement as they languish in the throes of a relegation battle. When they ousted Ranieri, they were just one point and one place above the drop zone.
Just to ensure that no one would be confused, they wasted no time in erasing their former manager from their social media accounts. 10 minutes after making the announcement, they changed their header photo on Twitter to a more generic, Ranieri-free picture.
