He was strongly linked with a move to Manchester United this summer
Harry Maguire is set to be offered a new contract by Leicester City that will see his wages rise by £30k per week.
He is currently earning a reported £45k per week and would take home £75k before tax if he signs a new contract with the Foxes.
The centre-back had an excellent World Cup, scoring the opening goal in England’s 2-0 win over Sweden in the quarter-finals and proving to be a key component in Gareth Southgate’s back three system with and without the ball.
He is equally important to Leicester, who are keen to tie the 25-year-old down to a new long term deal in order to fend off the likes of Manchester United, who were strongly linked with the player all summer.
According to The Telegraph, Maguire is in ‘advanced’ talks with the club over a new deal and Leicester chiefs are hopeful of reaching an agreement with him before the end of the month.
Maguire played the full 90 minutes of Leicester’s 2-1 defeat at United on Friday night, just four days after returning from his holiday.
Claude Puel, the Leicester manager, said:Â “I’m happy about Harry and Jamie, they came back with a smile.
“I’m happy about the attitude of Harry, it’s important for him to remain with us, and to bring strong momentum for this season, I’m happy to keep him. Harry, he’s happy also to remain with us.”
