He won the title with Leicester in 2015/16
Former Leicester defender Marcin Wasilewski has been tipped to become a cage fighter after he recently retired from football.
The 40-year-old spent four years at Leicester, playing four games in their 15/16 campaign as they defied the odds to lift the Premier League trophy under Claudio Ranieri the season after narrowly escaping relegation.
The former Poland international is a well known fan of mixed martial arts and Polish fight promoter Mateusz Borek has claimed he could soon turn to combat sport as a second sporting career.
According to The Sun, Borek said: “I know Marcin’s sporting career is not yet over.
“I think one of the MMA organisations will convince him to enter the cage.
“I know that this has always been Marcin’s dream.
“People have said it would be a good fight between him and Blazej Augustyn.”
Wasilewski spent most of his career at Anderlecht, where he overcame a devastating leg break at the hands of Axel Witsel, who was suspended for eight games for the tackle.
After undergoing corrective surgery to his tibia and fibula, Wasilewski was able to play football for 11 more years before hanging up his boots at the age of 40.
“I have respect for his entire career, and the way he overcame his fate,” Borek said.
“To rise up again after what an opponent did to him in the Belgian league deserves a world title.”
