Leon Bailey reveals there’s been “concrete interest” in him from two Premier League clubs

“If a club wants me, my management and Bayer 04 will take care of it”

Given that the transfer window closes this week, it seems a stretch to imagine that Leon Bailey will be sealing a switch to the Premier League this summer.

This isn’t to say, however, that a move to England isn’t on the cards at some point in the future, as he’s suggested in an interview with German publication Kicker.

The Jamaican winger currently plies his trade in Germany with Bayer Leverkusen but has been linked with moves to several English clubs in recent months, as well as AS Roma and Bayern Munich.

Directly asked about speculation linking him with Roma, Chelsea and Liverpool, Bailey confirmed there had been “concrete interest” in securing his signature this summer.

The 20-year-old went on to add that he wasn’t overly concerned about pushing for a move away from the Bundesliga, explaining that his club and agent would deal with that should an offer for him be made.

“What I can say is that my full focus is on developing myself as a young player, and that’s what I’ll focus on. If a club wants me, my management and Bayer 04 will take care of it.”

Bailey has scored 12 goals in his 44 appearances for Leverkusen, who he joined from Belgian side Genk a year ago.

Roma were strongly linked with a move for him last week after their move for Bordeaux’s Malcom was hi-jacked by Barcelona. For now though, it seems he’s set to remain in the Bundesliga for the foreseeable future… unless something happens very soon.
