A tweet from Macauley Negus’ brother has confirmed the Liverpool fan has been found
Macauley Negus, the Liverpool fan reported missing in Madrid after the Champions League final, has been found, his older brother has confirmed on Twitter.
Ashley Negus had appealed for help on social media in finding the 23-year-old after losing contact with him in the Goya area of the Spanish capital at around 10.30pm on Saturday night. He had been due to drive back to the UK on Sunday.
After tweeting in the early hours of Monday morning that Macauley, who is from Plymouth, had been reported missing to police in Madrid, he sent a further tweet which indicated they were investigating a ‘strong’ lead.
Shortly before 11am UK time, Ashley added that Macauley had now been found and thanked all those that had helped with the search.
‘To everyone who has helped my family during this tough time I want to say thank you,’ his tweet read. ‘We have now found Macauley.’
Ashley also confirmed in his tweet that he would be released later in the evening.
