Liverpool could be ready to replace one Lucas with another, as Lazio’s Lucas Biglia has emerged as a target for the club.
The Argentine holding midfielder, who impressed as the Roman club finished third in Serie A last season, would be available for £21m.
But according to Gazzetta Dello Sport, they would face strong competition from Real Madrid and Inter for the 29-year-old.
Biglia was made Lazio captain at the start of this season, but reports in Italy claim he is unhappy with his current contract at the club.
Liverpool are likely to be able to offer higher wages, though an improved deal may be enough to keep him in the Italian capital.
