Liverpool’s Rocky Fielding flattens opponent in no time at all

He made it look so easy

Rocky Fielding must have had something else on later tonight.

The Liverpool fighter didn’t want to mess about whatsoever when he added the Commonwealth super middleweight title to the British belt which he defended in style at the ECHO Arena.

Fielding sprinted out of the traps against Scottish opponent David Brophy and no sooner had the three judges settled in their seats and prepared to put pen to paper than a furious Fielding flurry forced Brophy to a knee.

The Scot clearly wasn’t prepared for the power of ‘Rocky from Stocky’, who proceeded to pour it on and deny Brophy a split-second of recovery time.

The onslaught was relentless in front of Fielding’s hometown crowd and, with 40 seconds left in the very first round, the referee had seen more than enough to call time on the bout.

With the 14th knockout of his career, Fielding moves to 25-1 and promoter Eddie Hearn suggested that he’d hope to see 30-year-old go the European route next.

“Definitely, I think it was,” Fielding said after the fight when asked if he considered it his best ever performance.

“It was a performance I needed after my last performance where I didn’t impress.

“I showed tonight that I’m back in business.”
