The goalkeeper is set to join Besiktas on a two year loan
Loris Karius is set to be given a fresh start as he nears a move to Besiktas after a disastrous, confidence destroying Champions League final in which he made two decisive mistakes.
The German goalkeeper will join the Turkish club on a two year loan with an obligation to buy for a fee of around £7.25m, but the deal has not been completed yet.
The delay in closing the deal has been caused by public holidays in Turkey. Karius is expected to arrive in Turkey to undergo a medical today before finally putting pen to paper.
Karius had the number 1 spot in Liverpool’s starting XI nailed down last season, but Liverpool saw it necessary to replace him with Alisson Becker from AS Roma this summer and forked out a world record fee for the Brazilian. That record was subsequently broken by Chelsea, who paid £71.8m for Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic Bilbao after selling Thibaut Courtois to Real Madrid.
