Newcastle United are back in the big show after securing immediate promotion to the Premier League.
Rafa Benitez’ men thrashed 10-man Preston 4-1, on Monday night, to ensure a rapid return and the Spaniard is already dreaming big – a mid-table finish in 2017/18. Try telling that to the Geordie Nation…

One of the most heartening aspects of last night’s victory was the return of Rob Elliot in between the posts for Newcastle.
Elliot was out of action for 11 months after badly injuring his knee while on Republic of Ireland duty last March in a friendly game. He missed out on the championship and lost his No.1 spot to Karl Darlow.
However, Elliot set his sights on returning fitter and stronger than ever and was the consummate club-man throughout his period on the sidelines:
He fought back to full fitness and Benitez had no hesitation on restoring him to the first team for a game that would ultimately see them return to the Premier League.
Following the match, Elliot captured the mood perfectly.
So if Carling did return from injuries………😂
What a night for everyone @NUFC
Back where we belong
So proud and grateful to everyone

While many Toon fans may be nursing promotion hangovers this morning, Elliot had the right idea.
