Former Barcelona star Hristo Stoichkov has launched a blistering attack on Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal, predicting that the Dutchman will ‘destroy’ the club.
Stoichkov won five La Liga titles and a European Cup medal at Barcelona but a bitter fallout with then-boss Van Gaal brought his second spell at the club to an end in 1998.
The Bulgarian has warned Pedro against his potential move to Old Trafford, citing Van Gaal’s treatment of former Barca goalkeeper Victor Valdes as a warning.
Stoichkov told Spanish radio station Cadena: “I would never be under the orders of Van Gaal. He’s mediocre. He destroyed Barca and is destroying Manchester United.
“With what he has done to Valdes he has shown he is a bad person. Hopefully Pedro listens to me and doesn’t leave.”
