Louis van Gaal doesn’t give a damn if your dinner goes cold.

The Manchester United manager upholds an uncompromising set of rules for his players and insists that they must wait for him to take his seat before they tuck into their grub.

On Friday, the Dutchman offered an explanation for United’s losses to Swansea and Arsenal by placing some of the blame on the club’s cook.

Respected German football journalist Rafa Honigstein backed up rumours of Van Gaal’s unbending dinnertime rules by recounting a story of how Luca Toni felt the full wrath of LVG when he was in charge of Bayern Munich.
