Louis van Gaal praises Anthony Martial’s versatility ahead of Champions League clash

Anthony Martial has been praised for plenty of things since his arrival at Manchester United in summer and now his manager has praised the young Frenchman’s versatility.

Having played as a striker in his earlier performances for United, Martial was moved out to the left wing for the visit to Everton at the weekend.

Again, he was impressive and was widely praised having negated the threat of Everton’s flying wing-back Seamus Coleman.

Speaking on MUTV, Louis van Gaal revealed that he believes that Martial can play in a number of different positions for the club.

“He [Martial] can play, in my opinion, four positions,” the Dutchman said. “He can play at seven, as a right-winger, 11 – the left-winger, the striker’s position and also at 10, I believe.”

United look to build on their impressive weekend performance as they take on CSKA Moscow in their third Champions League clash of the season.
