Anyone that watched Luke Shaw’s war of words with Jose Mourinho after he was substituted against Watford would have feared the worst.
Is it that coaches see limitless potential within the 20-year-old defender or is it that he is simply not doing his job right?
Shaw has now come in for criticism, early in their Manchester United coaching tenures, from Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho.
While weight issues were the bug-bear for van Gaal, Mourinho was not pleased at Shaw, and his ‘mental attitude’ after he was caught out of position for Watford’s second goal. He was back on the sub’s bnench and arguing his case when Watford made it 3-1.
The Times has now confirmed that Shaw suffered a slight groin tear during that league game but he played on in an effort to help his team reverse a losing skid.

Shaw, who had started 2016/17 brightly, will definitely miss United’s League Cup game with Northampton Town.
He will be hoping to prove his fitness for the visit of league champions Leicester City, this weekend, but Mourinho may be reluctant to push a player that spent much of last season on the sidelines after a horrific leg injury.
Marcos Rojo, who deputised to awful effect against Feyenoord, Daley Blind and Matteo Darmian are the replacement options.
