You’ve heard the old saying ‘we might have lost the battle, but we’re going to win the war’
Well if that war is a war of words, Malmo have come out swinging after their 3-2 defeat to Celtic in their Champions League play-off in Glasgow.
The match was a little feisty to say the least with tempers boiling over in the cauldron of Celtic Park, and Malmo goalkeeper Johan Wiland ripped into the Scottish champions afterwards.
“They are pigs, all of them, that’s the way it is,” he said in an interview with Swedish newspaper Kvällsposten.
“You just have to try to stay cool and do what we have to do on the pitch. Leigh Griffiths, well, I don’t know what to say, he behaved like a child, tugging shirts all the time.”
One Malmo player who refused to get drawn into the name calling was Jo Inge Berget, who played eight games for the Bhoys on loan last season.
“I don’t want to say that they are a group of pigs,” he began.
‘They have some tough players. We knew before the game that it would be tough so you just have to roll with it.’
