‘Choose Etihad’
Manchester City completed a domestic treble on Saturday afternoon, adding the FA Cup to the Carabao Cup and Premier League title after their 6-0 thumping of Watford at Wembley.
They also – at least according to plenty of people watching the game on TV – used the opportunity as a marketing opportunity for their shirt sponsor, Etihad.
The oldest football cup competition in the world has been sponsored by Etihad’s rival Gulf airline, Emirates, for a couple of years.
Because of this, plenty of people watching seemed to think City’s decision to change their shirt sponsor to carry the message ‘Choose Etihad’, instead of just Etihad Airways, was more than just a coincidence on the day of the Emirates FA Cup Final…

Emirates – fly better vs Choose Etihad.
And you thought the #FACupFinal was between Watford and Man City.
Very passive aggressive advertising. A shame that such an occasion gets hijacked by such nonsense.
