Man City eye Romelu Lukaku and Danny Ings as potential Aguero replacements

Guardiola is expected to add at least one striker in the summer

Manchester City might have taken a giant leap towards winning the Premier League title back from Liverpool on Sunday afternoon, but their 4-1 win at Anfield came without a recognised striker in their ranks.

That, though, is likely to be something Pep Guardiola will address this coming summer, with yet more reports surfacing that City will move for a replacement for Sergio Aguero in time for the start of next season.

Aguero has endured an injury-hit campaign to date for City, with talks to extend his current deal at The Etihad – due to expire at the end of the season – yet to take place. Now 32, the Argentine could leave the club at the end of the campaign, having already been linked with Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.

According to The Athletic, City, who have already been linked with the likes of Harry Kane, Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe, are keeping tabs on Romelu Lukaku and Danny Ings with the summer approaching.

Lukaku has managed over 50 goals for Inter Milan since his arrival from Manchester United two years ago. He is said to be admired at City for the fact he offers something different in terms of the qualities he would bring to Guardiola’s squad and could be a more affordable alternative to the likes of Mbappe or Haaland.

The same report suggests City may even move for two forwards before next season, with Danny Ings also on a list of potential arrivals. The England international has 18 months to run on his current deal at Southampton, but reports have claimed he is in no immediate rush to agree an extension having not given up on playing for a club in the Champions League.

He appears to have recovered from the knee injury which he struggled with at Liverpool and would come with the added bonus of being a home-grown member of the City squad.
