This stat proves Man United have been surprisingly lethal in front of goal this season

We did not expect this

Goals have not been as free-flowing for Manchester United in recent weeks as they have been in previous years.

While plenty has been made of the demise of Chelsea, United have only scored one more goal than Jose Mourinho’s men.

Much has been written and said about Wayne Rooney’s form and Louis van Gaal’s tactics have also been called into question by fans and club legends alike.

As United limped towards a 1-0 victory over CSKA in the Champions League, cries of ‘attack, attack, attack’ were audible from the Stretford End.

But while the United faithful may be frustrated at their lack of goals, the following stat suggests that they have no problem at putting the ball away when they actually have the chance.

In actual fact, they’re the best in the Premier League at it.

Although it shows that United may be more efficient in front of goal than a few of us thought, it also highlights the fact that creating the chances is a problem.

If they get that bit right, Louis van Gaal may be landing himself a few pieces of silverware come May.
