Manchester United might have paid a little over the odds for Marouane Fellaini, but that’s no guarantee anyone else will be as stupid.
The Belgian was David Moyes’ first big-money signing at Old Trafford – arriving for £27.5m from Everton – and the club want to recoup a fair chunk of that if he leaves this January.
According to the Sunday Mirror, Fellaini will only be allowed to leave the club if a potential suitor is willing to pay £24m.
The 28-year-old has scored just twice in 19 appearances for the club this season, with an equaliser in the 2-1 defeat at Bournemouth his only Premier League strike.
But United are thought to have turned down loan approaches for the former Standard Liege man, as only a big-money permanent deal will do.
