Rangnick is set to become interim manager at Old Trafford
A number of Manchester United players have reportedly been left ‘unimpressed’ with the way the club have handled the imminent appointment of Ralf Rangnick.
The former RB Leipzig boss has agreed to become United’s interim manager for the remainder of the season, with an official announcement expected over the weekend.
The German – who will take over from current caretaker boss Michael Carrick – will leave Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow, where he has been operating as the club’s sporting director.
Although Rangnick is highly thought of and boasts impressive credentials, reports are suggesting that a host of first-team players feel annoyed that they were not informed about the deal before it was relayed to the media.
The Daily Star report that none of the United hierarchy relayed the message to the players, either in person or via the shared WhatsApp group chat used by the squad.

It adds that the players believe that they should have been told who the new manager will be, especially considering that he is expected to start taking training as soon as he is officially announced.
Due to work permit-related issues, the ex-Hoffenheim boss will not be in charge for Sunday’s crucial league clash away at Chelsea, with the visit of Arsenal on Thursday potentially coming too soon as well.
When Rangnick’s six-month spell in the Old Trafford hot-seat concludes at the end of the campaign, he is expected to move into a consultancy role within the club – helping to oversee footballing operations, like he did at both Salzburg and Leipzig.
The 63-year-old is thought to have beaten a number of other candidates for the interim role, with ex-Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde and former Lyon manager Rudi Garcia both mentioned in the past week.
