It’s been six long years since Manchester United sold Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid, but the 30-year old could now be set for a sensational return.
United are eyeing up a big-money move for the player, according to the Manchester Evening News, after news emerged this week that the Portugal international is unhappy with Rafa Benitez’s training methods in Madrid.
The Premier League club are expected to free up funds for Ronaldo by selling Angel Di Maria, who seems set to move to Paris Saint-Germain for €65m (£46m).
Ronaldo scored more than 100 goals for United, including 42 in the 2007/08 season, and has found the net an incredible 313 times in 300 games for Real Madrid.
With United parting ways with a number of attacking players, including Nani and Robin van Persie, the return of their former star would be a huge statement as they look to mount a challenge for the Premier League title.
