Man United target Pedro omitted from Barcelona team for Super Cup…

JOE

It’s widely assumed in Spain that Pedro’s move to Manchester United has been delayed so that he could play for Barcelona in their UEFA Super Cup clash with Sevilla on Tuesday.

However, the 28-year-old forward is a surprise omission from Luis Enrique’s starting line-up, after he reportedly told sporting director Robert Fernandez that he wishes to leave.

The Catalan club are short of options in attack, especially after Neymar contracted the mumps. Pedro’s stance means that youngster Rafinha starts in his place.

If the move to Old Trafford does materialise, it will be a major coup for Louis van Gaal. Pedro is a player of enormous calibre and talent, who would add goals, pace and invention to the Dutchman’s side.

United could face stiff competition, though, with Bayern Munich also linked with the Spain international.
