Many Manchester United fans have been celebrating keeping hold of David De Gea, and for good reason.
The Spaniard was unlucky to concede against CSKA Moscow after saving Roman Eremenko’s penalty, and has been in his usual imperious form since returning to the starting line-up ahead of Sergio Romero.
But it seems he has a release clause in his new contract, and with Real Madrid still thought to be keen on the former Atletico number one, United may be considering potential replacements.
Keylor Navas came close to moving to Old Trafford on deadline day as part of a deal for De Gea, and he has made the most of his chance as Real Madrid’s first-choice this season.
The Costa Rica international kept out Zlatan Ibrahimovic and co in the 0-0 draw with Paris Saint-Germain, earning him an impressive accolade.
5 – Keylor Navas has equaled the longest run without conceding goals for @realmadrid in the #UCL (Bodo Illgner, 5 games). Applause.

Based on Navas’ reaction to his Old Trafford move falling through at the 11th hour, there’s every chance that he could still eventually end up in Manchester.
And if that happens, United may well have the perfect replacement for De Gea.
