Koulibaly tops United’s list
It’s expected to be a summer of upheaval at Old Trafford as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to assemble a squad to get Manchester United back on the right track after a miserable 18/19Â season.
While there continues to be speculation as to whether or not Paul Pogba will stick around beyond the summer, United are also being linked with plenty of potential new arrivals.
Strengthening the heart of his defence appears to be Solskjaer’s priority, with reports claiming Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly is seen as United’s number one transfer target.
The Senegalese international is widely regarded as one of the finest players in his position after his steady performances in Serie A in recent seasons.
The Mirror claims United’s interest is serious, though it may take a record fee for them to prise him away from Napoli.
Journalist Sam Pilger has added more fuel to the fire, tweeting that United have made ‘good progress’ in their attempts to sign the defender and that there’s a feeling the transfer could happen.

United finished the Premier League sixth, conceding 54 goals, a stat which highlights the need for them to strengthen their defence.
Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Victor Lindelöf, Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo all played at centre back throughout the course of the season, though it’s thought some of them will leave the club in the summer as part of the squad rebuild.
