Greenwood missed United’s last two games
Manchester United have reportedly warned teenage forward Mason Greenwood about his discipline.
The 19-year-old broke into the Ole Gunar Solskjaer’s first team during last season, finishing the campaign with an impressive tally of 17 goals.
Having missed United’s last two games – away victories at Newcastle and Paris Saint-Germain – a report by The Guardian now claims Greenwood has been reminded of his responsibilities by the club, with his timekeeping proving an issue on multiple occasions.
Greenwood’s recent absence from the United team has been explained by a minor injury, with Solskjaer denying any suggestions he had been left out due to an off-field issue ahead of Tuesday night’s Champions League win over PSG.
Despite his breakthrough into United’s first-team last season, Solskjaer still saw fit to bolster his attacking options with the deadline day arrival of Edinson Cavani. Had the Norwegian had his wish, the arrival of Jadon Sancho may have proven to be a direct threat to Greewood’s starting position in the team.
The forward has one goal in four appearances for his club this season, coming in the Carabao Cup win over Luton Town a month ago.
Despite making his senior England debut in Iceland last month, his call-up was overshadowed by the news that he and Manchester City’s Phil Foden had breached strict Covid-19 regulations by inviting a woman to their hotel room. The pair were sent home as a result of the incident, with Gareth Southgate opting against calling them up for October internationals against Wales, Belgium and Denmark.
