Zidane has won three Champions Leagues as a manager
Manchester United are ‘working to persuade’ Zinédine Zidane to succeed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as their manager following a disappointing run of results and performances.
According to The Sunday Times, the United hierarchy are frustrated with recent results, with the Red Devils losing 2-0 in the Manchester Derby last week, as well as being thrashed 5-0 by Liverpool last month.
Pressure is beginning to mount on Solskjaer, with Zidane believed to be a serious candidate to replace him at Old Trafford.
United reportedly believe that appointing the Frenchman is their best chance to bring silverware back to the club and are ‘working to persuade him’ to take the job.
However, it is thought that the former Real Madrid manager is ‘unsure whether the opportunity presented by United is the right one to take at this point’ and would require some persuasion to take the job.

The Red Devils are reportedly keen to use Zidane’s close relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane to support their negotiations, with United believing that the players ‘can help convince him to join’.
Zidane – who won three Champions Leagues and two La Liga titles across his two spells at Real Madrid – is currently a free agent after quitting the Bernabeu for a second time in May.
The 49-year-old is thought to be waiting for the right opportunity to return to management, but he can be hired without needing to negotiate a compensation package.
The Times add that the Glazer family are growing frustrated with Solskjaer’s performance as manager, with United have accumulated six defeats in 12 games.
