Rival fans clashed in the streets following the Manchester derby on Saturday afternoon.

Shaky footage of the incident, which took place in the city’s Northern Quarter, has been circulating on social media following Manchester City’s 2-1 victory at Old Trafford on Saturday lunchtime.

Glass bottles can be heard shattering on the floor as two groups of supporters are seen exchanging punches and kicks in the clip below.

Eventually, the sound of police sirens appears to bring a halt to the fighting, with many (including the person recording the incident) quickly leaving the scene.

Earlier in the day, Pep Guardiola’s side had taken all three points after a dominant opening half hour against their rivals saw them establish a two-goal lead following strikes from Kevin De Bruyne and Kelechi Iheanacho.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic pulled a goal back for the home side before the break, capitalising on an error from new City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo. This set up an entertaining second half as United’s attempts to draw level left them vulnerable to a counter attacking City side.

The result leaves City with a perfect start to the season under their new manager, who has won all six competitive games since taking charge at the Etihad.
