Another day and yet another man linked with a job, that at least for now, is still unavailable.
Louis van Gaal is still Manchester United’s manager, and it appears the immediate threat to his job over Christmas has passed.
But that could all change if the club fail to beat Sheffield United on Saturday afternoon –Â or the Old Trafford crowd witness another uninspired 0-0 draw – in the FA Cup.
So it’s no surprise that the club have been linked with a former player, and current manager, who is enjoying a hugely successful time with PSG.
Laurent Blanc is widely expected to leave the France champions this summer, as the Paris based side are currently twenty-two points clear at the top of the Ligue 1 table and his contract runs out in matter of months.
The ex-Manchester United centre-half has also been linked with a move to take over full-time at Real Madrid, but according to the Daily Star, reports in France suggest contact has already been made with the former World Cup-winner this campaign.
The newspaper suggests that Blanc has been contacted to either take over in the current campaign, which judging by PSG’s unassailable lead in France would be a possibility, or more likely, he will be a summertime appointment.
Van Gaal is likely to leave Old Trafford in June, and because of Blanc being in the last six months of his contract, he could begin discussions with Manchester United well before the end of the season for a major switch.

So, it's now Laurent Blanc to Manchester United? Well, he's a red devil, and has no philosophy or process.
