Manchester United are preparing a shock move for out-of-favour Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy.
The Frenchman has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates since joining in 2014 after the emergence of Hector Bellerin at the Gunners’ first-choice right-back.
Arsene Wenger has said Debuchy may leave on loan during the current transfer window, and Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has apparently identified him as the man to ease the defensive injury crisis at Old Trafford.
According to Daily Mirror, United will look to sign the former Newcastle fullback on a short-term deal for the rest of the season.

Arsenal are said to be demanding a fee of £1.5m for any potential loan move to happen, and will expect the 31-year-old’s new club to pay his £60,000-a-week wages in full.
Speaking on Monday, Wenger said: “Debuchy [leaving] is a possibility. At the moment it doesn’t look likely but it is still a possibility.
“Yes [it will be a loan] because it’s impossible to conclude a permanent move now.”
