Manchester United have confirmed that Luke Shaw suffered a double fracture.
Although the sickening footage from United’s earlier defeat clearly showed the left back had broken his leg, more details of its severity are starting to become clear.
Manchester Evening News journalist Stuart Mathieson tweeted that the club had confirmed the news of Shaw’s injury and that he is to be operated on in Manchester.

The news of Shaw’s injury overshadowed an already miserable night for United, who went on to lose their opening Champions League fixture 2-1 to PSV Eindhoven.
