Fabinho has issued a ‘come and get me plea’ to Manchester United.
However, Antoine Griezmann said his chances of joining United were “6 out of 10,” and he ended up staying at Atletico Madrid.
Actions speak louder than words in the transfer market, and it remains to be seen if Fabinho will do a Griezmann and stay at his current club.
But the Monaco midfielder, who can also play at right-back, has been linked with a move to United for months. And he didn’t deny that he would be interested in a move to Old Trafford when asked by Brazilian television.
“It’s a tempting invitation. I would first talk to my agent, Monaco too, to decide everything right. But it’s a great club, sure enough I would think well about it.”
The 23-year-old has worked with Jose Mourinho before. He made one first-team appearance for Real Madrid during the 2012/2013 season, Mourinho’s last as manager at the Bernabeu.
Fabinho joined Monaco on a permanent deal in 2015, and impressed last season, helping them win the French title and reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.
According to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, Fabinho would cost United £35m.
Like most of Monaco’s star players, the Brazilian isn’t expected to be at the club for much longer.
Bernardo Silva has joined Manchester City for £43.5m, while Tiemoue Bakayoko, Benjamin Mendy and Kylian Mbappe have all been linked with big money transfers.
