Gloating about your football team on social media is a risky business.
After Manchester United exited the Champions League at the hands of Wolfsburg, plenty were quick to remind Peter Schmeichel of a tweet he sent following the draw for the group stage back in September.
But Schmeichel wasn’t alone.
As CSKA Moscow briefly took the lead against PSV Eindhoven, Manchester United were set to scrape through to the last 16 of the competition regardless of how their game in Wolfsburg finished.
This prompted one Manchester United fan account to go far, far too early with a celebratory tweet.

Within a couple of minutes, PSV were level and eventually condemned United to a place in the Europa League with another goal six minutes from time.
