The last ever game at the Boleyn ground turned out to be a memorable one for the Hammers, as they hung on to beat Manchester United 3-2 in a game that was as eventful as the mayhem outside that preceded it.
West Ham took the lead inside 10 minutes through a Diafra Sakho goal, but Anthony Martial levelled not long after the break.
It was also Martial that put the Reds into the lead in the 72nd minute, but West Ham’s dogged refusal to back down on such a momentous night for the club was the driving force behind Michail Antonio’s headed equaliser just four minutes later.
Winston Reid powered home the winner that gave the Boleyn its triumphant last hurrah, and ensured that the club’s European ambitions remained very much alive.
As for United, it will be dependent on favours from other teams if Louis van Gaal’s side are to play Champions League football next season.
They sit in fifth place, two points below neighbours Manchester City with a game to play. The result predictably did not go down well with fans.

Awful first half. Not much better second.
And just to rub salt in the wound, I had 3-2 United, on a free bet !!!

United players and management should be ashamed. Awful.

Gutted United won't be in the CL, but this should now be the end of Van Gaal's time at United. Last three years have been a write off.

Another terrible united performance, don't deserve fourth, we are only good enough to mix it up with 5th to 10th

FT: West Ham United 3-2 Manchester United. Disappointed. Martial did his best but couldn’t save our terrible game. Top 4 hopes fading..

Everyone else, on the other hand, was far more entertained by the Red Devils’ failure to keep their fate in their own hands.

It'll be Manchester United fans throwing bottles at the coach on the way out.

David Moyes finished 7th to avoid Europa league.
Van Gaal spent £200m to get Manchester United into Europa league.
