Following his transfer to Manchester United for £75m, every aspect of Romelu Lukaku’s game has inevitably come under scrutiny, including his first touch, which can be heavy sometimes.
Everton fans, and anyone who has watched Lukaku over the past few seasons, could tell you the Belgian striker doesn’t exactly have the close control of Dennis Bergkamp or Zinedine Zidane.

However, the 24-year-old has 53 goals in 110 Premier League games, and once he continues that scoring rate, Jose Mourinho and United fans won’t mind a few stray touches here or there.
Yet, it appears the criticism of Lukaku’s first touch has hit a nerve with some United fans, who were quick to point out a heavy touch by Arsenal’s new striker.

Alexandre Lacazette failed to control a pass in the Gunners’ pre-season friendly against Chelsea.
Arsenal lost 3-0 to the Premier League champions, but this poor touch by their new French striker was one of the main talking points on social media following the game.
Many United fans were quick to draw attention to it.
Twitter could easily crash when Alvaro Morata, Chelsea’s new striker who was reportedly close to joining United before they signed Lukaku, fails to control a pass.

In fact, any poor first touch, by any Premier League player this season, could end up being used to defend Lukaku.
