Sergio Agüero’s omission from Manchester City’s starting line-up at West Ham has got people talking.
The Argentine has not been the must-pick he was under Manuel Pellegrini, and while he has been among the goals there are some who believe Pep Guardiola could be convinced to part ways with the man who has scored more Premier League goals for City than any other player.
If that were to happen, and there are no indications that the former Atlético Madrid man is going anywhere, we’re sure that plenty of clubs would be keen to bring him on board.
After all, who wouldn’t want to bring in a man who has scored 25 goals or more in five of the last six seasons before this one, and who is on track to make that six in seven.
Plenty of clubs on track for next season’s Champions League would surely be eager to welcome him on board, as would…Manchester United.

Now, we can see a couple of issues there.
There’s the local rivalry, of course, though that could be explained away if fans are able to convince themselves that Agüero could be keen to stick it to Guardiola by moving a few miles down the road.
The bigger sticking point, however, might be a lack of Champions League football – something which United, four points adrift of fourth-placed Liverpool, are on course for.
Naysayers will point to the summer just past, but that was an anomaly. The arrival of a new manager, and one as high-profile as José Mourinho, represented an opportunity to buy into a ‘project’, in much the same way as players in the past might have welcomed moves to the likes of Monaco, Anzhi Makachkala or Jiangsu Suning.
With Agüero turning 29 in the summer, he may be keen to ensure he gives himself all the opportunities at his disposal to lift the Champions League. You can’t win a competition you’re not in, after all.
Still, ignoring important points is football fans’ forte – and we’re not just talking United fans here – so an appearance on the bench means it’s time for a cheeky bid, right? Right?
Utd should of put in a cheeky bid for aguero. I will get my coat now…

A return to Spain after United bring in Antoine Griezmann over the summer? Now *that* might be more realistic.
