Plenty of Manchester United fans will have pinched themselves when the news broke about David De Gea signing a new contract.
But anyone expecting the Spaniard to remain at Old Trafford for the long haul might be in for some bad news.
De Gea was in fine form for his country against Ukraine, but after the 1-0 victory he was quizzed about his new United deal.
Many will be worried after he refused to deny rumours that his contract contains a release clause, telling the assembled media that they would need to speak to agent Jorge Mendes about that.
“You should ask Jorge that question,” he said.
“He is the one who pays attention to those sort of details.”
It was rumoured at the time De Gea put pen to paper on the deal that Real Madrid would be able to sign him for €41m after a deadline day move broke down.
The 24-year-old is tied to United until 2019…but not all that tightly.
