Yet again, it’s been a rough few days for Manchester United.
After West Brom and Liverpool put two sizeable dents into the club’s aspirations of playing Champions League football next season, United supporters are in need of a boost.
And what better way to lift spirits than by announcing a new signing?
Unfortunately, United’s latest recruit doesn’t appear to be the type of signing that will be thrust into the United starting eleven any time soon.
Matthew Olosunde has completed a move to United after the 18-year-old defender left New York Red Bulls in order to go to college. Before United made their move, the youngster was even named as one of Duke University’s six new players for the upcoming season.
As reported by the Manchester Evening News, Olosunde signed for United in January but confirmation of his arrival has had to wait until international clearance had been received.
The American youngster can play as a centre-back or full-back and is expected to feature in the club’s U18s squad this weekend.
It’s not exactly the kind of signing that will excite the club’s supporters just yet, but at least Van Gaal has another name to call on if the injury list starts to grow again.
