The Man Utd captain was reportedly arrested in the early hours of the morning

Manchester United have issued a statement following reports that Harry Maguire was arrested on the Greek island of Mykonos last night following an alleged altercation.

According to reports emerging from Greece, Maguire was arrested after allegedly attacking police following an incident involving other British tourists.

Three men, one believed to be the centre-half, were detained in the early hours of Friday morning.

In a statement responding to the reports, Manchester United said: ‘The club is aware of an alleged incident involving Harry Maguire in Mykonos last night.

‘Contact has been made with Harry, and he is fully co-operating with the Greek authorities. At this time we will be making no further comment.’

In his first season at Manchester United following his world record move from Leicester City, Maguire has been pivotal in establishing his side’s newly found defensive stability.

In 38 leagues games last season, United conceded just 36 goals; the third best defensive record in the Premier League after Liverpool and Manchester City.
