Manchester United have a replacement for David de Gea lined up

Just in case De Gea leaves

Manchester United appear to be facing another summer of uncertainty surrounding David de Gea.

De Gea was linked with Real Madrid for the entire summer transfer window in 2015, and was on the verge of joining the Spanish club until the deal collapsed minutes before the window closed.

The 26-year-old remained with United, signed a new deal and continued to be arguably the best goalkeeper in the Premier League.

However, the rumours linking him with a move to Real Madrid this summer have already started to circulate, but it appears United have a replacement in mind should he return to his home city.

According to Miguel Delaney of the Independent, United will attempt to sign Jan Oblak if De Gea departs for Real.

Oblak has impressed for Atletico Madrid, De Gea’s former team, since joining the Spanish side in 2014.

The 24-year-old Slovenian is considered one of Europe’s best ‘keepers.

United reportedly also scouted Inter Milan’s Samir Handanovic and Gianluigi Donnarumma of AC Milan, but consider Oblak the ideal replacement for De Gea, should he leave.

Joe Hart has also been linked with a move to Old Trafford.

But, needless to say, Oblak would be a more popular replacement with United fans than the Manchester City goalkeeper, currently on-loan at Torino in Italy.
