Manchester United have reportedly decided to replace Louis van Gaal

Confirmation that Pep Guardiola will be the manager of Manchester City from the start of next season has disappointed many Manchester United supporters.

Already underwhelmed by recent results and Louis van Gaal’s possession-obsessed style of football, many of the United faithful have been left disappointed that their club haven’t chosen to make their own managerial change.

Now though, it appears the new appointment at The Etihad might just have prompted Ed Woodward into a rethink.

According to a report in The Daily Star, United’s executive vice-chairman has now decided that van Gaal will leave the club at the end of the season.

Jose Mourinho is the man reported to be his replacement, despite earlier suggestions that the former Chelsea manager wasn’t a universally popular choice amongst United’s board members to take over at Old Trafford.

Mourinho has been heavily linked with a move to United since he left Stamford Bridge earlier in the season and looks to be the favourite to land the job.
