Manchester United are set to announce the sacking of manager Louis van Gaal.
It appears that the worst kept secret in football will be announced at 1pm this afternoon with the news that Louis Van Gaal’s tenure at Man Utd is coming to an end.
United finished 15 points behind champions Leicester City and failure to reach the 2016/17 Champions League was compounded by a truly dismal campaign in the current edition of Europe’s elite club competition. United were knocked out of a group containing PSV, Wolfsburg and CSKA Moscow, before falling to Liverpool in the Europa League.
Understand statement around 1pm

It seems that an FA Cup win wasn’t enough to convince United supporters of Van Gaal’s ‘philosophy’. It has been suggested that the club will be making a statement at 1pm this afternoon, when it’s widely believed the Dutchman will say his goodbyes.
To further emphasise this, LMA lawyers have already arrived at United’s United’s Carrington training complex.

'Hallelujah' seems to be the most popular refrain among #MUFC fans at the moment. United couldn't ignore the weight of opposition to LVG

Statement to come on Van Gaal. All things considered – this has ended about as well as he could've hoped, going out with a trophy

Crikey! Manchester United have sacked Louis Van Gaal. Who saw that coming? Next thing you know they'll appoint José Mourinho.
