Wheels are seemingly in motion

Jose Mourinho looks to be in genuine danger of losing his job.

Mourinho is currently enduring Manchester United’s worst start to a season in 29 years and pressure is mounting on his position.

On Saturday afternoon, United fell to a 3-1 defeat to West Ham and it’s been suggested that Mourinho’s days are now numbered at Old Trafford.

United legend Rio Ferdinand was on punditry duty for BT Sport for the game and he insisted that something had to change and change quickly.

“There’s some big decisions to be made at Manchester United. I’m sure there’s going to be conversations at that level [board],” said Ferdinand.

“The manager, the squad, how they’re going to take this club forward. The basics aren’t being done.”

He added: “I believe the powers that be at this football club have a decision to make. Someone has to make a decision right now, either someone goes. Something has got to give.”

It’s understood that former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane, who left his post at the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer after delivering three consecutive Champions League titles, would be the preferred successor to Mourinho.

And apparently, United have already held preliminary talks with the French legend.

According to beINSports, Zidane has been sounded out by the Red Devils with a move to offer him a contract.

“Sources close to beINSports are suggesting Manchester United have had initial conversations with Zinedine Zidane,” said Richard Keys.
