It turns out Manchester United players don’t even have to be playing for the club to pick up injuries.
Wayne Rooney, Ander Herrera and Marcos Rojo have all picked up knocks of late to join long-term absentee Luke Shaw on the sidelines, and the international break has brought Louis van Gaal a new headache.
Bastian Schweinsteiger was preparing to play for Germany in their Euro 2016 qualifier against Ireland, only to pick up an unspecified injury in the warm-up.
The 31-year-old ruled himself out of the international game, and will face a race against time to be fit for United’s Premier League trip to Everton.
Van Gaal will hope it’s nothing too serious.
.@BSchweinsteiger picked up an injury during the pre-match warm-up and will miss the game. #IRLGER
