We’ve all had that feeling in the pit of our stomachs when it dawns on us that we’ve missed a really important arrangement.
Maybe we’ve forgotten about an important meeting, or showed up late for a date for no good reason besides the fact that our mind was elsewhere.
But we’ve never done what Nick Powell did, and forgotten to watch our employers on TV because we were busy playing FIFA.
The Manchester United midfielder, currently on loan to Championship high-flyers Hull City, had planned to catch up on his parent club’s meeting with FC Midtjylland in the Europa League.
But instead he missed United’s embarrassing 2-1 defeat, saying: “There’s no excuse, they should have won.”
There are no excuses, really…and there’s no explaining away Powell’s behaviour either.
