Think of all the Premier League title-winning sides from history and they all had great team spirit and togetherness.
Arsenal’s famous ‘Invincibles’ had it and Kenny Dalglish will tell you it was team spirit alone that won Blackburn Rovers the league in 1995.
So reports that Manchester United players are already falling out with Louis van Gaal just four games into the new season, could be disastrous for their hopes of returning to title-winning ways.
It’s not been the greatest of starts for United, with just three goals scored and sitting 5 points behind rivals Manchester City, but it seems like there’s real disharmony in the camp.
The Times report that a number of senior United players confronted Van Gaal recently about his strict training methods which are apparently stifling the team’s creativity and invention in games.
The players demanded to be allowed to express themselves more freely on the pitch. But the confrontation, which happened a number of weeks ago, doesn’t seem to have improved the situation at Old Trafford with the Dutch boss not budging on his rigid approach.
Not to worry, only Liverpool up next.
