Louis Van Gaal’s decision to allow Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao leave the club has attracted some criticism.
With Wayne Rooney already suffering a slight injury, many of the club’s supporters felt that United had been left light in the striking department. Aside from Rooney, youngster James Wilson and new signing Anthony Martial are the club’s only other recognised strikers.
It’s now emerged that United had the chance to resign a former striker, with Dimitar Berbatov’s agent offering the Bulgarian to the club.
Clearly, that didn’t work out and Berbatov signed for Greek side PAOK.
