It’s a very bold look
Manchester United have teamed up with their kit manufacturers, adidas, and FIFA creators, EA Sports to release a fourth, ‘digital’ kit, which features a leopard print design.
The jersey has been designed primarily with FIFA Ultimate Team in mind, but fans will be able to buy physical copies from adidas’ online store. However, it will set you back a whopping £80, and it’s only available in adult sizes, from XS to XL. Sorry, parents.
A club statement read:
“Manchester United has teamed up with adidas Football and Electronic Arts to reveal the stunningly unique Manchester United EA Sports Jersey – a digital shirt, that will be granted in EA SPORTS FIFA 19 to players who are fans of the club, along with obtaining them through FIFA ULTIMATE TEAM (FUT) packs and weekly objectives.
“The shirt features a bold, radical leopard print design. Although the shirt will not be worn by the team on the pitch, a special limited edition physical version, designed in collaboration with EA SPORTSâ„¢, will be available for fans to buy in retail outlets including the Megastore at Old Trafford and adidas stores, as well as online at United Direct and adidas.com.”
United will never actually wear the kit in real life; it will be used solely by gamers playing FIFA 19.
The jersey is one of four expected to be released on the latest FIFA game, Bayern Munich, Juventus and Real Madrid – adidas’ other high profile clients – kits all expected to come out too.
United had a kit exclusively for FIFA last season too, but its colour scheme was much more in keeping with United’s traditions.
Whereas this season, the design is a bit more in your face, with its almost florescent yellow jumping out at you like Chris Smalling in a panic.
Players will be able to obtain the digital kit from Ultimate Team packs, which include a variety of items including players and ‘consumables’.
