Manchester United to take Javier Ribalta from Juventus

For the second summer in a row, United take one of Juve's prized assets

As certain Manchester United fans will tell you, if Gianluca Di Marzio tells you something is happening, it’s bloody well happening.

The Italian journalist was a regular go-to source of information for those United fans seeking Paul Pogba updates ahead of his return to Old Trafford from Juventus a year ago.

Now, according to Di Marzio, United are taking another of the Italian champions’ prized assets.

Javier Ribalta, the man that has been in charge of scouting at Juve for the last five years, is heading to United.

A brief statement on the Juventus website confirmed Ribalta’s departure, adding that he would be taking on ‘a new professional adventure elsewhere’.

“It has been a wonderful few years here. My thanks go to all involved with the club, particularly Giuseppe Marotta and Fabio Paratici for the faith they have shown in me since day one. I will look back on my time at Juventus with great pleasure,” Ribalta said.
Di Marzio explains that Ribalta will take on an important player recruitment and scouting role with United.

It remains to be seen what his official title will be, or if he will be involved in transfers along with executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward.
